Carbon Molecular Sieve is a porous carbon structure and nonpolar adsorbent. It is a derivation of activated carbon and zeolites combined into a single pellet. Used to adsorb oxygen molecules, carbon molecular sieve (CMS) helps generate nitrogen-rich air at normal temperatures. Carbon molecular sieve is most commonly used in applications where nitrogen-rich air is essential. The pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process requires CMS in the adsorption towers. The PSA system utilizes pressurization and depressurization cycles to direct raw gas between the adsorption towers, producing the highly concentrated nitrogen gas used in the applications below.
